Lomography has made it a new mission to bring unique Lomographic events and happenings to the community worldwide…Bring on The Diana World Tour!

The Diana World Tour was kick started in Hong Kong, and has since travelled to Tokyo, Seoul, Porto, Lisbon, Madrid, Barcelona, Berlin, Paris, Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, New York City, LA, Riga, London and is now making it’s way to Australia and New Zealand.

Australian/New Zealand Tour dates
SYDNEY 3 February – 19 February 2011
MELBOURNE 25 February – 11 March 2011
AUCKLAND – 18 March – 31 March 2011

The Diana World Tour includes: The Detrich Collection – a collection of 100 original Diana Clone Cameras, The DWT Global Vignettes Collection – the coolest collection of Diana images that you are ever likely to witness from all around the world and The Customised Clones Exhibition – a collection of 25 Diana cameras, customised by some of the most interesting artists, illustrators, creative types and good-time Lomography friends that Australia and New Zealand has to offer. Each clone is a complete one-off and will be exhibited as part of the 3 city tour and auctioned online to raise money for a couple of charities in need of our support – www.seethroughme.com.au and World Child Cancer.

To celebrate the coming of Christmas and the beginning of a new year full of photomedia projects for children in need, we are requesting donations of any old cameras (film or digital), other photographic equipment and film (expired ok).

Donations can be sent to the Patch House Studio C.O.D, dropped off at Josie’s Hair Salon in Seymour, or contact us to arrange a collection. Please let us know who you are so we can send you a certificate of appreciation via email/ facebook.

NO CAMERA IS TOO OLD FOR SEE THROUGH MES PHOTOGRAPHY!!

New Year – New Events!

See Through Me has several new events and activities planned for 2011.

Some of these will include-

February Fundraiser: Limited release Tshirt range in collaboration with illustrator Wade Quagliotto from 8 Quails Design.

National Youth Week: Skater Nature Exhibition and Activities on Show at Burrinja Cultural Centre Gallery in Upwey Victoria.

Birthday Book Launch: Also in collaboration with 8 Quails Design, creating a small publication of all things See Through Me.

The second part of 2011 is still being planned and will depend on funding opportunities in North Queensland and Overseas.

Good News for our first City project – Looking Up!
This is a community art project focussed on empowerment and perspective.

Artists for Kids Culture are going to fund a series of photography workshops for the children living in the Collingwood Public Housing Estate.

This project will take place over the Summer school holidays and has been developed in partnership with Concern Australia’s Live Wires Program.

Some of these works will be on display at our Fundraiser in February, and one of the pieces will be donated back to Artists for Kids Culture for their annual art auction. More about AKC.

This auction of cameras will take place early next year in Sydney and Melbourne with all media coverage being supported by Frankie Magazine.

Exhibition.

To celebrate all of the great work we have been doing over the past year, See Through Me has planned its first exhibition.

The exhibition is set to take place at the Collingwood Gallery in Smith Street during the last few weeks of February 2011.

The work that will be on show will be a variety of children’s images, collaborations and photos from projects that have not yet been published. Some of Bridget and Wades personal images will also be included.

The exhibition will be held as a fundraiser for future See Through Me projects in Australia and all artworks will be for sale.

Becoming Man.

Bridget is currently working on a new project that has grown out of her recent cultural development work at local skate parks.

If you are, or know of a teenage boy that would be interested in being interviewed and photographed for this arts project please contact See Through Me.

The project is about the disappearing man, the transition from boyhood and the hopes and fears that young people have about their futures in todays world.

This project will be ongoing and will involve meeting with lots of different young people across Australia to create a photo documentation entitled Becoming.

Through this work Bridget will continue to explore the concept of childhood and the wild environment. More information about this project will be posted soon.

Project Planning.

See Through Me has been very busy over the past month preparing and planning for some new projects and residencies to take place in 2011.

Some of these proposals have been:
Looking Up – in partnership with Care Australia’s Live Wires program exploring the lives of children from the Collingwood Public Housing Estate; and Child Like - a project for children of the Warburton area, looking at the local environmental changes, supported by Councillor Samantha Dunn.

Bridget and Wade have been putting the plans into place for an independent creative photo documentation of the Macedon Ranges and the region of Hanging Rock, along with a locally supported project through the Cardwell Historical Society, North Queensland to undertake a photo documentation of their town and its people later in 2011.

Bridget has recently been selected as a finalist in the Walker Street Gallery Emerging Artists Award which will be on exhibition in September 2010.
